The Braun Station Barracuda swim team is open to Braun Station East and West residents as well as out-of-neighborhood swimmers ages 4-18.

Regular/Competition Team

To join the regular competition team, kids need to be able to swim without assistance across the pool (it does not have to look pretty!) and to listen and follow directions from their coach for the duration of the 45 minute practice. 

Pre-Team

For kids who are not able to swim independently, we offer a pre-team group similar to group swim lessons. Pre-team practices daily but does not compete in swim meets.

To be eligible for pre-team, kids cannot be fearful of the water, must be willing to do lessons without floaties or life vests, and must be willing to put their faces in the water. They must also listen and follow directions from their coach for the duration of the 30 minute sessions. If you kid does not have the maturity to do these things yet, private swim lessons elsewhere would be a better fit.

Sign up for the pre-team using the usual registration process. (In the registration steps: "athlete" refers to regular and pre-team swimmers.) 

Season Dates

Our season runs from mid-May through the end of June and usually includes 4 dual meets and a divisional championship meet. 

Volunteer Expectations

Please think of swim team as a co-op where we all contribute in order to have a team. Our swim team is not a private business where you pay for a service or activity for your child. In order for our meets to run effectively, we require each competition team family provide at least one adult volunteer per meet. If your family does not fulfill its volunteer commitment, your child cannot be on the team. Extenuating circumstances can be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

Pre-team parents do not need to volunteer at meets; however, we highly encourage them to volunteer to help at Spirit Day and at the end of year team party. 

Registration 

Registration opens April 1. Although registration officially closes May 1, don't delay signing up! To maintain safe swimmer to coach ratios, we may have to close registration for certain age groups once capacity is reached. All swimmers registered before May 1 will receive a free team t-shirt. Registration after May 1 requires a back-end administrative process and will only be allowed on a case-by-case basis.

Registration costs for the current season will be calculated during the online registration process. For planning purposes, you can budget for $120 for an in-neighborhood swimmer with additional $20 per family supply fee, and a $30 per family fee out of neighborhood fee. Pre-team costs an additional $30 to cover the smaller coaching ratios. If you need a more personalized estimate to help you budget, contact us.

Refunds (excluding the credit card fee) will be given until the end of the first week of practice. After the first week of practice, we do not provide refunds
