Our Swimmers

The Barracudas are a neighborhood summer league swim team based in Braun Station, which is located in Northwest San Antonio. In addition to residents, our team welcomes out-of-neighborhood swimmers ages 4-18.

We offer a positive swimming experience that emphasizes skills and good sportsmanship. No competitive swim experience is necessary. Our swimmers have a long history of building friendships and making great summer memories.

Pre-Team

Our Pre-Team is designed especially for swimmers ages 4 and up who are comfortable in the water but not yet able to swim the full length of the pool unassisted. It’s a fun, low-pressure way to help swimmers build confidence, develop basic skills, and prepare to join the full swim team in the future.

Pre-team swimmers do not participate in meets and pre-team parents are not expected to volunteer at swim meets.

Who is Pre-Team for?

  • Swimmers ages 4 and older
  • Not fearful of the water: Must be comfortable putting their face in the water and willing to do lessons without floaties or life vests
  • Can follow directions from their coach in a group setting for the duration of the 30 minute sessions
  • Swimmers working toward swimming the length of the pool unassisted

Note: If your child can already swim the length of the pool without help, they’re ready for the competition team.

If you're unsure whether your child is ready for Pre-Team or have any other questions, feel free to contact us.

What to Expect

  • Daily practice sessions held during regular swim team practice times
  • Small-group instruction focused on water safety, floating, kicking, and freestyle basics
  • Caring junior coaches working in the water with swimmers with support from our adult coaches
  • A fun introduction to the swim team community including participation in our team events like the team photo, spirit day, and the end of season party.
