    Clarification on results

Parents, just to give a little clarification in case you are wondering.

(And this is an explanation from a swim team mom of only a few years, I am sure it could be explained much better than this...)

When you look at the results, DQ means disqualified.  You may not have seen what your swimmer was disqualified for, but the coach will know and they will take this and work with your child to help them learn and get better. It is all a part of the process.

An x next to the time only means that the time is not counted towards the team score. They only count the top few scores for each team.  It does not mean your child's score does not count for them.  And they are still ranked.

The numbers to the right side of only a few are the points earned by that swimmer for their team. Each team is allowed points per each event. All the points cannot go to one team. They must be distributed to both teams. (that could be explained much better I am sure.)

We work with an electronic timing system and volunteers such as ourselves that run these timing systems.  We always have to understand that mistakes happen.  There will be times that your child comes up missing from an event (mine has before.)  There will be times when they show up under someone else's name even (mine has before.)  :) It's not a perfect system and we aren't perfect volunteers.  It's summer swim.  And we all do our best.

The great thing is, our kids are doing a great job, they are working hard, learning a lot, making friends, and that is what summer swim is all about.

It was a good first meet!

    Amy
