Division 1 CHAMPS IMPORTANT
Way to go Barracudas! We are undefeated in our regular season meet! You guys are awesome - swimmers AND volunteers!
Thank you to those of you who rsvp'd for our DIVISIONAL CHAMPS MEET this Sunday. I am going to give you some important information below. Please read all. ;)
1. We are almost set for volunteers, however, we need 2 people to sign up for 7&8 boys ready bench. CHAMPS is big and it is vitally important that someone getting these boys to their events. I need 2 people to go into our volunteer sign up today and choose these jobs. We don't these boys lost in the busy mix.
2. Place: Palo Alto Natatorium 1400 W. Villaret Blvd., San Antonio, 78224 Facility details: 8 lanes by 25 yards-running each meet in 2 pools = 16 lanes. Admission: Free Meet programs: $5—CASH OR CHECK. Online version available for parents to print before the meet.
3. Meet start is at 3:15. Warm up is 2p - Braun Station: older pool lanes 2 & 3 and younger pool lane 3. We will have a check in table with our barracuda sign out front. Please have your swimmer and volunteers checked in and ready to go inside at 1:30. Doors open for everyone at 1:30. Judges, team reps, coaches, scorekeepers, and league officers can enter the natatorium at 1:00 p.m. to finish set-up. Our 2 set up parents may enter at 1p, but your family is not allowed to go in at this time.
4.All ready bench parents need to be in the doors at 1:30 ready to organize your bench of swimmers.
5. Check-in volunteers need to be set up by 1:00 to start checking in swimmers and volunteers.
6. Team seating: Look for your TEAM NAME posted for assigned seating in the poolside bleachers. swimmers must sit on their ready bench. Spectator Seating: There are ample poolside seats for spectators—some chairs with backs and bleacher seating as well. PALO ALTO WILL NOT ALLOW CHAIRS TO BE SET UP!
7. Concessions: 3 FOOD TRUCKS BOOKED FOR OUR EVENT WILL GIVE 10% OF SALES TO OUR LEAGUE. They are: B Daddy’s BBQ (few breakfast items & traditional BBQ menu), Maui Wowi (coffees, smoothies, etc.), and Daddy O Cocina (taco truck). Trucks accept some credit cards and CASH. Please bring 10s, 5s, and 1s…..NOTHING LARGER THAN A TEN DOLLAR BILL PLEASE.
8. We will bring in 1 large ice chest with waters for our swimmers. They can also bring their drink in their bag, but NO OTHER ICE CHESTS are allowed.
9. Officials’ meeting: 2:15 p.m. Timers’ meeting: 2:30 p.m. location to be announced for ALL TIMERS Coaches meeting: 3:05 p.m. Location to be announced Meet begins: 3:15 p.m. – Ends approximately 6:45 p.m.
10. This meet swims 2 different pools at the same time: Swimmers ages 11 and older and ALL Medley Relays will compete in the OLDER Pool with starting blocks and touch pads. Children 10 & U swimming 25’s dive from the deck of the YOUNGER POOL and swim towards the FINISH END. NO touch pads for younger pool swimmers.
11. Directions: In South San Antonio take SW Loop 410 and exit S. Zarzamora St. Turn left at Zarzamora taking the turnaround onto the SW Loop 410 frontage road. Enter the Palo Alto campus at the back gate onto Camino Real and take a left onto Conception. Conception will take you to parking lots 9 & 10 by the PAC Natatorium and lot 8 if needed. 12. We will have the CHAMPS shirts that were purchased previously at practice on Friday to hand out.
13. Don't miss - Friday (our last regular practice ) we will have CHAMPS spirit items, the "Barracuda Boutique," and POSSIBLY Kona Ice!
14. If you want to caravan to CHAMPS, pull your car up at the BRAUN STATION ELEMENTARY pick up line ready to leave at 12:45.
15. All-Star Meet Qualifiers: The 1 st place winners for both individual and relay events from each Division qualifies for the All-Star Meet followed by the next 4 fastest times from any division. If a swimmer cannot attend the All-Star Meet, the lane remains empty. At least 3 out of the 4 swimmers from the division championship meet relay team must swim at the All-Star Meet or the lane remains empty. All-Star meet is on THURSDAY, July 5th at Palo Alto Natatorium.
Whew. And that's it. We are excited to see our swimmers compete on Sunday! It will be a great event.
